BOYS VOLLEYBALL

1.  1.    NCAA rules apply. Apart from centerline violations and net height.

a.    The center line rule for all NYSPHSAA Men’s interscholastic competition is as follows:
  -
To touch the opponent’s court with a foot (feet) or hand(s) is permitted, provided that some part of the penetrating foot (feet) or hand(s) remains either in contact with or directly above the center line.
  -
To contact the opponent’s court with any other part of the body is forbidden.
  -
A player may enter the opponent’s court after the ball goes out of play.

2.  2. Net height will be 7 feet 11 5/8 inches

Matches shall consist of the best three out of five games. (Varsity only)
4.
Warm-up periods shall consist of six minutes for each team.
5.
A deciding set is won when a team scores 15 points and has at least a two-point advantage over the opponent. (Varsity Only)
6.
Coaches are required to attend the mandatory rules interpretation meeting prior to the start of league play.
7.
With the exception of the libero, teammates must wear uniforms of the same color, style, cut, and trim, including sleeve length.
8.
 Length of timeouts will be 60 seconds
9.
The number of team substitutions in a set is 18

 
                                          Section XI Tournament

Effective July 1, 2014, Section XI has adopted SPALDING as the official ball used in all Section XI playoff contests.  Schools are mandated to use a SPALDING product exclusively during ALL ROUNDS of the Section XI playoffs. 

The Section XI Sport Chair will decide when schools will receive the SPALDING VB-5 (72-1338) ball.  Schools may use this ball or any other SPALDING product.

Qualifying

1.  50% of the number of Class A teams and 50% of the number of Class B teams will qualify for the tournament.

4. Matches shall consist of the best three out of five games. (Varsity only)
5. A deciding set is won when a team scores 25 points and has at least a two-point advantage over the opponent.
6. Coaches are required to attend the mandatory rules interpretation meeting prior to the start of league play.
7. With the exception of the libero, teammates must wear uniforms of the same color, style, cut, and trim, including sleeve length.
8. Length of timeouts will be 60 seconds

2.  There shall be a single elimination tournament, the best three out of five games constituting a win.
