BOYS AND GIRLS SWIMMING

High School Rules apply.

League placement - Teams will be placed in two lor three eagues by enrollment. (rev 10/21/03)

                                        Section XI League Championship Meet

1.  A league championship meet will be scheduled with team scoring.
                                                                   
2.  Each school may enter three competitors per event.   (revised 5/24/05)

3.  Each school may enter only one team per relay event.

4.  Divers will compete in a six-dive format. Depending on the number of divers competing, diving may have its own championship "session", the event is part of the appropriate league champ meet.

5.  There will be timed finals.

6.  There will be one seeding meeting of all coaches called by the sport chairman for the purpose of seeding this meet or entries may be entered electronically using Hy-Tek or Swim cloud.  all deadlines will be strictly enforced.

7.  All entries will be verified and certified by only the meet coordinator.  

8.  No individual competitor may compete in the league championship meet. (Approved 5/18/04)

9. Boys and Girls athletes must have the requisite 6 competitions to be eligible to participate in the league championship. (Approved 5/14/25)

                                    Section XI Team and Individual Championship Meet

1.  Qualifying: Any swimmer meeting the qualifying time (determined by the average of the 12th place finish over the last three or five year period, whichever is faster) in an event is eligible to compete. A swimmer is eligible for no more than two individual events and two relays or one individual event and three relays.

Athletes may qualify for the Team and Individual Championship at any season competition including the league championship.

2.  A swimmer must compete in the Section XI Team and Individual Championship in order to qualify for the NYSPHSAA Swimming Championship.

3.  Entries must be submitted to the meet coordinator electronically or an in person meeting called upon by the sport chairman.  all deadlines will be strictly enforced.  

4.  All entries for the seeding meeting must be verified and certified by the coach and/or meet official.  All athletes including individual competitors must be represented by a coach at the seeding meeting.

5.  Individual competitors may qualify for individual events only. No relays.  

6.  If there are open lanes in a championship heat, the lane shall be left open.  Only swimmers or relays that qualify will be allowed to enter into the Section XI championship.

7. Section XI Boys and Girls Swimming/Diving shall follow the same format that is used at the NYSPHSAA Championship.  All teams and Individual Competitors shall score points in the Section XI Championship.

                                    NYSPHSAA Championship Meet

1.  There will be a qualifying standard for each event set by the NYSPHSAA swimming committee for girls and boys swimming. These standards will be publicized by the Section XI chairman prior to the start of the season.

2.  Section XI Boys' and Girls' swimmers and divers shall qualify for the NYSPHSAA championships using the in-season qualifying standards.

3.  A swimmer and diver must compete in the Section XI Individual Championship in order to qualify for the NYSPHSAA Swimming Championship.  (Swimmers do not need to swim in the event for which they qualified in-season.)
