PLACEMENT COMMITTEE
                                                    PURPOSE

To recommend the placement of schools in basic conferences and the placements of those specific sports where competition is not confined to basic conferences.

                                        GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

A.   This shall be a standing committee of Section XI.
B.   The immediate past president shall serve as chairman of the Placement Committee.
C.   Committee membership shall consist of one male and one female from each conference. The Executive Director shall serve in an ex-officio non voting capacity.
D.   Committee members shall serve a two-year term as specified in the Bylaws, Article 6, Section 7.

                                        SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
A.   The committee will consider all specific sport placements.  Committee recommendations for such placements shall be submitted to conferences and the Athletic Council for approval.
B.   The committee shall determine league placement and/or make other appropriate decisions regarding school alignment due to announced budget cuts when it is not feasible to follow standard procedures for the approval (i.e., Conference and Council approval).  App. 10/12/11

NOTE:  At its January 11, 2012 meeting, the Athletic Council approved that the basic conference placement shall be determined by utilizing the rank order of Section XI member schools listed on the State Education Department Student Information Reporting System (SIRS) as follows:
    ~Conference I: 15 highest enrollment
    ~Conference II:  15 next highest enrollment
    ~Conference III:  14 next highest enrollment
    ~Conference IV:  15 next highest enrollment

POLICY COMMITTEE
                                                    PURPOSE

To review and recommend policies for consideration by the Conferences and the Athletic Council.

                                        GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

A.   This committee shall be a standing committee of Section XI.
B.   The First Vice President shall serve as chairman of the Policy Committee.
C.   Committee membership shall consist of one male and one female from each conference.  The Executive Director shall serve in an ex-officio non voting capacity.
D.   Committee members shall be appointed to serve a two-year term as specified in the Bylaws, Article VI, Section 7.
E.   The Policy Committee shall meet as necessary two or three weeks prior to each Athletic Council meeting.

                                        SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

A.   The Committee will review proposals which shall be submitted in writing to the Section XI office at least two weeks prior to the committee meeting.
B.   The individual (or his/her representative) requesting action by the Policy Committee must attend the meeting at which the item is considered.
C.   Committee recommendations shall be submitted to conferences and the Athletic Council for approval.
